Project Title: Technological Advancement of Cartilage Tissue Engineering
Project Abstract:
Articular cartilage defects represent a major unresolved global clinical challenge. Because cartilage is avascular and has limited intrinsic capacity for repair, it has been proposed as an attractive candidate for tissue engineering therapies. Although significant progress has been made in recent years, major challenges still need to be addressed to make cartilage tissue engineering a clinical success. This research proposal aims to investigate a new autologous approach for the development of tissue engineered grafts for cartilage repair by uniting four state-of-the-art technologies.
