Project Title: Investigations into synthetic aperture, beam forming, and adaptive imaging for medical ultrasound
Project Abstract:
A lab at the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen, Denmark has just completed an innovative medical ultrasound research system. Their ultrasound system is unique in its ability to implement the most sophisticated ultrasound techniques in both laboratory and clinical environments. Working with this system in Copenhagen would allow me to investigate the fundamental ultrasound limits of clinical imaging. Limits of clinical imaging are poorly understood because of the difficulty in implementing complex beam sequences with commercially available ultrasound systems, and non-commercial systems are rarely suitable for clinical imaging.
