Project Title: Determining Optimal Hip Implant and Surgical Procedure from RSA and Gait Analysis
Project Abstract:
Combining radiostereoanalysis (RSA) and gait analysis to compare different hip implants and surgical procedures. Pre- and post-operation gait will be compared to determine optimal implant design based on a variety of factors including patient's age, activity level, and gender. "Optimal" will be defined as the implant and procedure combination which most accurately results in restored normal gait. Choosing the correct implant allows patients to regain their freedom of mobility more quickly; they can then walk independently, work in a garden, and play with grandchildren.
